30 Best Bathroom Colors 2018
The best bathroom colors create the mood you want in your space. If you are asking yourself “What color bathroom do I need?” beware of designer magazines. These bathrooms often have huge windows with lots of light and bathrooms bigger than most apartments. This means the rooms can handle more intense color while it will just look awful in a smaller room or without artistic lighting.
A colorful bathroom can wake you up in the morning. Yellow is a bright cheery color, but it really depends on the function of your space. Stripes work well in kid’s baths instead of wallpaper but think of how you’ll use the room. You may want a more muted palette when trying to relax after a day’s work.
A bathroom can be a relaxing space. Use shades of taupe and green for a spa room that you’ll never want to leave. Lighter rooms look bigger. Add in a small chandelier for a sense of luxury. Frost windows for privacy without frilly window treatments and use a bathroom shower curtain in a crisp white fabric. Just make sure you also use a liner so you don’t have mildew issues.
Color toilet seats can seem dated and you really don’t want the toilet seat to be the focal point of the room do you? Stick with a toilet seat that matches the bowl. If you really want color find a pattern that incorporates the bowl color like a modern plastic damask seat. (It really doesn’t exist, I just thought it up in my brain, but it should because it would look awesome. I’m sure that crafters could achieve the same look with plastic paint, a stencil and a cheap plastic toilet seat. If anyone does this, let me know and I’ll buy one, just as long as it’s not used.) Replacing a rose or dated blue toilet may only cost a few hundred dollars but makes a big impact in the space.
Bathroom wall colors should be colors that you look good in. Blue works well with lots of skin tones while peach or pink may wash you out. Keep the wall behind the mirror neutral with grass cloth paper or finished wood floors for a focal point that won’t have you over-applying your makeup. You don’t want to look like a clown just because you have the wrong colors in a bathroom.
